  Buffalo Grass



Does not establish well in sandy soils. However these areas can be successful by using a top dressing with a couple inches of good soil before seeding.

Keep seed moist through germination stage and water on an as needed basis until plants are established. Soil must be warm, 60 degrees for seeds to germinate. Plant no sooner than May in the upper mid-west and no sooner than April in the South.

It is winter hardy and drought tolerant.

This is a cool season, sod forming perennial grass. Bluegrass is NOT tolerant of drought and high temperatures but is somewhat shade tolerant. It can grow 1-2ft if conditions are right.

Very good spring and fall growth, but goes dormant quickly in hot dry months. Seeding rate: 3-5 lbs.per 1,000 sq ft.
